This poem was written by my hero, my husband, Michael Daniels about a month before he was KIA in Operation Desert Storm on February 20, 1991. He called me from Saudi Arabia and told me that he wrote me a poem after a dream that he had. I was excited and asked him what it was about. He told me that he couldn’t tell me and I would just have to wait until I got it in the mail.
I believe this poem was a premonition and I also believe this really happened – it was not a dream. RIP, Michael. You are truly my hero!
Michael’s Poem
With the grace of an eagle and the beauty of a dove,
An angel came down from the clouds above.
The humbleness of his smile would not help to hide
The awesome strength he showed as his wings spread wide.
The warm glow that surrounded him sent my heart arise,
And my knees began to tremble as he looked me in the eyes.
He told me all about you and how you’ve been so strong,
Then he promised he’d watch over you as he had been all along.
He talked about our love and how it is so deep
Then he took me to your room where we stood and watched you sleep.
He told me not to worry, that all would turn out well.
With those last words I bowed, and to my knees I fell.
– To Misty will all my love
Michael David Daniels
