Our Board

Just like Rome, the AWP wasn’t built in a day! But it does have an awesome group of individuals who have helped it grow to be where it is today. Check them out:

Roland Guerrero

Roland has worked for over 30 years in the safety, health and environmental field holding many positions for multi-national industrial and manufacturing companies and currently consults for a worldwide environmental firm. He has been a board member of the YMCA, American Red Cross, and Red River Park Foundation and has been a member of numerous governmental working committees throughout his career. He and his wife, Tobi, have four children and live in San Marcos, Texas.

Don Swaynos

Don Swaynos is a multiple award-winning filmmaker currently living in Austin, Texas. His work has been featured on The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, CNN, ABC World News, The Huffington Post, The Military Times, and Film Threat. Being a part of the AWP and a driving force behind our documentary film, Don has the utmost respect and honor for the sacrifices made by the widows and their heroes.

Scott Burchfield

Scott Burchfield is a 25-year veteran of the retail world and is the proud husband of a beautiful wife and a father of four children he adores. The love for family is what makes Scott so committed to the ladies of the AWP.

“I am grateful everyday to have my soul mate with me and we should all help those who are managing to live without their soul mate.” – Scott

Taryn Davis

Taryn Davis has been on the board since the organization’s beginning and has passion and drive for everything AWP. The growth and integrity of the organization and the widows they serve is a top priority as a board member. Her husband Michael was killed in 2007, but his love is still her driving force.
